Goodbye 2020, come here you 2021
I remember the cheers when 2020 was on our doorstep. "It's going to be my year," we all cheered on the web. The magical number 2020 made us dream and hope. I was one of them. This year was going to be different. That was the first plan for myself that actually panned out. Others went walking, got a dog or dusted off their bicycle. I started crunching sales videos, inspiring TED talks and sociological pageturners.
Creative minds can be a bit chaotic, insecure about their work and vastly underestimating themselves. Without some stability , I learned to wing it and to keep on struggling like most of us do. Being aware of this, I decide to devote the time 2020 gave me to change that course. Surely and steadily I inject some planning in my life. I used to be afraid of planning, afraid of failing that plan. Now I see it - mostly - as a sense of direction and a guard of my boundaries.
For 2021, I am looking forward to my decision to take control of the printing department. It is a completely new chapter I am ready for. The art of print and paper is a wonderful world to elevate the quality and service I already offer.
For 2020, I look back on some great moments. Hiking the hot summer, wining and dining my friends when it was possible and getting sunburnt with my dog in the dried up garden. There were bad moments too of course, but they turned out to be teaching moments, which now set the course for the upcoming year.
So, did you cheer for 2020? What did you learn and remember that sets your course for 2021?
The tools and media that helped and changed my mindset this year:
- Sue Bryce Education On portrait photography
- Jay Shetty Think like a monk

PS. A big thank you to all my friends who were there for me when I needed a video call person to talk to. I cannot wait to see you in 2021.
PSS. So looking forward to travelling care-free again!
